The Township of Springwater, located in the heart of Simcoe County, is a mixed urban/rural municipality with growing urban settlements and a prosperous agricultural sector. The municipality is currently recruiting summer students for By-law Enforcement.

Position Responsibilities
The usual responsibilities of the position are:
Assisting and supporting Municipal Law Enforcement Staff;
Investigate and enforce municipal by-law infractions;
Promote education of applicable municipal by-laws;
Assisting with the Animal Control Program;
Performing safe operation, care and maintenance of assigned tools, equipment and vehicles;
Performing all duties in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations, and Township policies and procedures; and
Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience
All applicants must provide confirmation of post-secondary full time student status in current academic year and/or acceptance into full time studies in September 2026.
Enrolled as a student in law enforcement, law and security administration, police foundations, or related discipline.
Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with staff and the public in an effective and courteous manner.
Any related experience in municipal law enforcement or security operations is considered an asset.
Ability and willingness to work in varying climate conditions.
Willingness to work a 35-hour work week and ability to work shifts and take on additional workload as required.
A valid and unrestricted Ontario Driver's Licence Class G2 required (Ontario Driver's Licence Class G preferred) with a driving record that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behaviour. Successful applicants will be required to provide the Township with a copy of their drivers' licence and submit a driver's abstract to verify a driving record in good standing as a condition of employment.
Successful candidates must complete a successful Vulnerable Sector Screening as a pre-condition of employment.
Successful candidates must abide by Ontario Health & Safety Legislation and follow Township Health and Safety Policies.
Successful candidates will be required to provide their own black CSA approved safety boots to be worn daily.

Rate of Pay
The rate of pay is $20.71 per hour (2025 rate) plus vacation pay and statutory holidays as per the Employment Standards Act.

Hours of Work
This position will work 35 hours per week, including afternoons and weekends. Successful incumbents must be available to work exclusively from May to Labour Day.
