Job Overview

The student volunteer supports staff in creating a safe, caring, and engaging environment for young children. This role provides hands-on experience in early childhood education by assisting with classroom routines, play activities, and daily operations under the supervision of trained educators.

The position is unpaid .

Duties

and responsibilities

General Support

Assist teachers and staff in daily classroom routines. Help set up and clean up activities, meals, and play areas. Support with organizing materials, toys, and supplies.
Child Engagement

Read stories to children or assist with group reading. Participate in playtime, art, music, and outdoor activities. Encourage positive social interactions between children. Supervise children during free play under teacher direction.
Health & Safety

Ensure children follow safety rules indoors and outdoors. Report any concerns (behavioral, safety, or health) directly to staff. Never leave children unsupervised or take them out of the classroom.
Meals & Snacks

Assist with distributing snacks and meals. Encourage healthy eating habits and table manners. Support with cleanup after meal/snack time.
Learning & Development

Help children with simple tasks such as puzzles, blocks, and crafts. Encourage independence by guiding children to do things themselves. Model positive behavior, language, and respect
Housekeeping

Wipe tables, chairs, and toys after use. Support in maintaining a tidy, safe, and organized environment. Assist with laundry of classroom materials if needed.
Professional Conduct

Maintain confidentiality regarding children and families. Follow staff directions at all times. Arrive on time and sign in/out as required. Refrain from using personal phones in classrooms. Respect the childcare's policies and code of conduct.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Apprenticeship, Internship / Co-op

Pay: $17.20 per hour

Expected hours: 10 - 30 per week
