If you are offered a position as a summer student, you will be required to show proof of completing a full-time academic year (September to April) in 2022/2023 at a school, college, university or other educational institution.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Coordinator \xe2\x80\x93 Conventions & Visitor Services, and the technical direction of the Senior Travel Counsellor, provides information on the City to visitors in a tactful and courteous manner.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides information relating to the city.
  • Processes the tourist mail.
  • Prepares bulk information kits and individual VIP kits as required.
  • Records bulk literature upon arrival and advises supervisor of same.
  • Records and registers visitors on a daily and monthly registration form.
  • Performs good housekeeping practices in Centre and storage areas.
  • Maintains daily inventory of brochures pertaining to Thunder Bay.
  • Performs such other related duties as may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Education/Experience:
  • Must be a student registered with a college or university and must be returning to school in the fall

Skills & Abilities:
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be highly motivated and be able to work well in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Superior customer service skills and ability to deal with the public and staff in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Proficient in the use of computers and current related software (Word, Excel)
