Job Description


This is a student position on Queen\'s campus where the successful candidate would be part of a team responsible for communication and outreach to students in Residence and Retail dining locations to influence sustainability initiatives and practices to find most efficient process in promoting executing the \xe2\x80\x9cTrayless dining program\xe2\x80\x9d and promote \xe2\x80\x9cGood to Go\xe2\x80\x9d program. Provide recommendations to Hospitality Services based on student feedback and help implement best practices.Job Responsibilities

  • Assist Hospitality Services Operations in creation of marketing materials to educate students on sustainable practices in Residence dining and Retail operations (ie. dining without use of trays, participation in GOOD TO GO program.
  • Engage in various platforms to communicate to students the benefits of sustainable practices (ie. trayless dining in the dining halls, use of GOOD TO GO program)
  • Educate students on proper use of self-sort waste streams on campus and encourage strategies to reduce food waste.
  • Assist in execution and promotion of the \xe2\x80\x9cGood to Go\xe2\x80\x9d program\xe2\x80\x9d in retail locations.
  • Share information and key areas that impact waste reduction and resource conservation
  • Scheduled 2 times/week to engage students and discuss initiatives
  • Solicit feedback from the student/campus community. Report said feedback in order to evaluate concerns, positive feedback, potential challenges, etc.
  • Assist in conducting waste audit for specific meal periods to document results in the changed behaviors
  • Assist with implementation of sustainability programs and initiatives in order to contribute to objectives relevant to the sustainability goals of Housing & Ancillary Services and the University.
  • Complete relevant administrative tasks which may include collecting and presenting data, filing reports, and other administrative tasks as required and assigned.

  • A passion for sustainability and enthusiasm to share the benefits of sustainable practices with other
  • Strong customer service, problem-solving, communication skills (written & verbal) and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Knowledge of food services programs and facilities at Queen\'s University dining locations
  • Previous experience in the hospitality industry or customer service is an asset.
  • CPIC clearance check
This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing.
