As part of the Network Engineering group, the System Administrator/Software Developer will be responsible for a wide variety of activities relating to the management and maintenance of applications which help deliver Eastlink's broadband Internet and video services. The system administrator/software developer will be responsible to work with a number of tools developed in-house that monitors the packet cable and fiber to the home networks.

This role will be responsible for migrating/port those existing tools to a new platform using Python. This will include software porting from various programming languages, testing, documenting, managing the lifecycle of the apps, including feature enhancements, bug fixes, and quality assurance. The system administrator/software developer will engage the various stakeholders to track and manage defects, including identification, assessment, prioritization, tracking, resolution and verification.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of Python, Java, Javascript and C++
  • Knowledge of Ruby is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Linux/Windows System Management and TCP/IP Netowrking
  • Working knowledge of Oracle, MySQL, PHP, or Postgres Database Management is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
