(MREA) is seeking a high-performing individual with experience in administration, student services, education, and project management to join its team of dedicated and skilled professionals. On behalf of its 2,700-plus members, MREA works to build, empower and uphold a trusted and sustainable real estate profession in Manitoba through its education programs.
About the Role
Reporting to the Vice President of Learning and Development, the Student Services Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional well-being of students and members. This position requires strong collaboration with staff and a focus on delivering a seamless educational experience. The ideal candidate is empathetic, resourceful, and student-centered, committed to ensuring every learner receives the support and guidance needed to thrive.
This role is responsible for delivering comprehensive student support and advising services, including guidance on real estate licensing, course registration, and continuing education pathways. Key responsibilities include responding to student inquiries by phone, email, and in person; addressing concerns; processing extension requests; creating and managing a student e-newsletter; and project management of educational projects. Educational responsibilities include developing and grading assessments, maintaining a master course database, tutoring students, delivering educational sessions, and creating real estate education content grounded in adult learning principles.
Administrative responsibilities include maintaining and updating educational materials, tracking content-related inquiries, managing inventory, collecting student feedback through surveys, and supporting exam invigilation. The role also assists with enrollment and registration processes, including helping students register, processing withdrawals and refunds, attending career and recruitment events, and maintaining accurate student records. Technical support duties involve assisting students with online learning platforms and incorporating AI tools into daily workflows. Event coordination includes planning and facilitating real estate workshops, training sessions, tutoring, and administering mandatory member education when required. A strong focus on continuous improvement and professional development is essential to stay current with industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in student support.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
A certificate, degree, or equivalent education in office administration, the education field, or relevant education.
A minimum of three years in administration or an educational support role and/or relevant experience
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
Engages positively with students and members, effectively conveying concepts for better understanding. Confident in public speaking, instructing, facilitating meetings, and tutoring.
Problem-Solving & Critical Thinking
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills, capable of assessing student needs and providing appropriate solutions.
Highly Organized & Strong Time Management Skills
Skilled in managing various student cases, inquiries, projects, and support programs efficiently. Proficient in coordinating and facilitating student workshops, tutoring, and student engagement activities.
Customer Service & Student Engagement
Friendly and approachable demeanor to aid in students feeling welcome and supported. Committed to fostering a positive student experience and provides high-quality service to diverse student populations.
Data Management & Technology Skills
Proficient in data management systems for tracking academic progress and confident in analayzing data to identify trends to better serve our customers and come up with innovative initiatives.
Cultural Competency & Diversity Awareness
Sensitive to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and committed to equity, inclusion, and accessibility in student services. In addition, is understanding of the need for accommodations for students with disabilities.
Team Collaboration
Ability to work within a team and collaborate with organization staff and volunteers. Takes initiative in organizing student programs, mentorship initiatives, and engagement activities, with a proactive approach to enhancing student services and implementing new support strategies.
