The Student Services Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the student journey at Keyin College. This position focuses on providing clear communication, consistent support, and coordinated services for students from across Newfoundland and Labrador. Working closely with the Director of Student Services, Admissions, Human Resources, and other college departments, the Student Services Specialist helps students navigate their academic experience with confidence and care. The role contributes to student engagement, community connection, and the continuous enhancement of service delivery through a student-centered, inclusive approach.
Collaborate with the Director of Student Services and institutional leadership to map and document the student journey from enrollment to graduation.
Support the coordination of onboarding, advising, referrals, and other services to ensure a seamless, consistent student experience.
Collect and analyze student feedback to identify opportunities for improving service delivery.
2. Communications Support
Assist the Director in managing communications to students, including newsletters, key dates, and service updates.
Maintain a communications calendar to ensure information is shared clearly and on time.
Coordinate with Marketing and Communications to ensure messaging reflects college standards and tone.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work with the Admissions team to support students' transition from applicant to enrolled learner.
Liaise with departments such as Academic Advising, the Registrar's Office, and others to align student services across the institution.
Participate in projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing the student journey and fostering a positive campus environment.
4. Student Engagement & Community Integration
Support the planning and coordination of student orientation, social events, and peer engagement activities in collaboration with student leaders and staff.
Help deliver programming that builds community and fosters belonging among students across Newfoundland and Labrador.
Use feedback and participation data to help shape future engagement strategies.
5. Community Liaison & Support Coordination
Assist in building and maintaining relationships with community organizations that provide student supports, such as housing, health, and social services.
Help facilitate access to off-campus resources and promote student participation in community activities.
Support the integration of local services with institutional supports to enhance student success and retention.
6. Human Resources Collaboration
Collaborate with Human Resources and the Director to address student complaints, conduct concerns, and related matters.
Assist with documentation, referral processes, and resolution in accordance with college policies.
Contribute to identifying trends that can inform service enhancements, policy development, or training needs.
Qualifications
Post-secondary diploma or degree in a relevant field (e.g., education, human resources, communications, social sciences, or student services).
Experience working in student services, customer service, or administrative support.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
A commitment to inclusivity, accessibility, and student-centered service.
Familiarity with the Newfoundland and Labrador post-secondary education system is considered an asset.
