School of Social Work (Contractual Position to March 31, 2024) (Part-Time; 21 Hours per Week) DUTIES Under the direction of the Dean of the School of Social Work or the Dean\'s delegate (the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs) and in partnership with the Nunavut Arctic College - School of Social Work (NAC-SSW) BSW steering committee and the NAC SSW Program Coordinator, the successful applicant will be responsible for coordinating student services for the BSW, Nunavut. Duties include: assisting with student recruitment activities and coordinating admissions; assisting students with the application, admissions, and registration processes; coordinating scholarships and awards; coordinating orientation programs for students and instructors; providing academic advice to students; liaising with students on issues of concern; developing policy relating to student services, including preparation of academic program materials; consulting and liaising with the School\'s undergraduate studies committee, the BSW Student Services Coordinator, the BSW Nunavut Field Education Coordinator, and the Office of the Registrar; coordinating services for students with the Writing Centre and other resources; participating in and supporting the NAC-SSW BSW steering committee; participating in program evaluation; liaising with undergraduate student institutions; assisting with academic planning; scheduling courses and entering grades; coordinating the Pledge of Professionalism, BSW Nunavut convocation, and other special events; and performing other related duties as required. The successful applicant must be available to travel to Nunavut to coordinate student orientations and convocation ceremonies. QUALIFICATIONS Experience (3-5 years) in a professional social work practice setting, including a minimum of two years post-MSW social work experience; graduation with a Master\'s degree in Social Work from an accredited university; certification as a registered social worker with NLCSW; or any equivalent combination of experience and training. The ideal candidate will have considerable knowledge, skills, and experience in professional social work practice in administration/program/policy/direct practice roles, plus proficiency in oral and written communication, and computer skills. The candidate will possess knowledge of and experience working with Indigenous peoples, specifically Inuit, and their social work practice will be consistent with Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit (IQ) Principles. This position requires strong organizational skills, flexibility in role change and multi-tasking, mediation, facilitation, and advocacy. Experience within a university setting is considered an asset. SALARY $59,460 - $81,079 per annum (Management and Professional) CLOSING DATE January 6, 2023 COMPETITION NO.
