A student research assistant position (up to 37.5 hr/wk) is available for an undergraduate engineering student (going into Year 3 of 4 or Year 4 of 5) with an interest in Inclusion and Diversity in Engineering and Leadership in Sustainability (IDEaLS), specifically on a project involving the (1) the Design of Smart Sustainable Cities or (2) the development of Climate Change Models.
The student will work as part of an interdisciplinary team that will use innovative teaching tools such as experiential learning and hands on activities to develop a model that enables them to create, visualize and assess the impact design decisions have on cities and on climate. The model could be used for studying the impacts of growth, developing future scenarios, experimenting with strategies for sustainable development, understanding the climate resilience of the designed infrastructure, and for better understanding the outcomes of the design for the people who ultimately will live there.
