Student Recruitment OfficerPlease note that a strong internal candidate has been identifiedPrimary Purpose: This position is part of the University of Saskatchewan\'s (USask) central Student Recruitment team, supporting prospective students through the recruitment, admission, and pre-arrival/arrival phases of the student lifecycle, to assist the University to reach its approved enrolment goals.Nature of Work: Reporting to the Recruitment Coordinator and Director of Student Recruitment, this position works in close partnership with members of the other TLSE units, including the Admissions and Transfer Credit Office and the University of Saskatchewan Language Centre, as well as college support offices. Recruitment staff are trained and expected to be able to work in all markets and focus strategically on initiatives and activities related to the recruitment of undergraduate, graduate and language students from domestic and international markets. The successful candidate will be able to work under pressure, in a data-driven, technology-rich environment. The work is fast paced and characterized by continuous change, shifting priorities and frequent interruptions where competing deadlines and multi-tasking is the norm. Volume of work can vary considerably with marketing cycles and driven by critical admissions deadlines; availability for flexible work hours is a requirement for the position. The incumbent is required to establish and maintain effective professional relationships, both internally with other staff, department and college administrators and faculty, and, externally, with international partners and government representatives. He/she must also be able to work independently with minimal supervision, exercising judgement to determine the appropriate guidelines, procedures and priorities for work, and discretionary decision-making based on sensitivity and knowledge of individual international markets, recruiting and visa trends, and knowledge of programs, admission policies, and the university\'s research strengths and academic priorities.The ability to undertake travel while maintaining other administrative and placement functions is required, and the candidate must hold a valid driver\'s license, valid passport and be able to acquire visas for international travel as required.Key Accountabilities Include:

  • Developing and delivering comprehensive presentations for prospective students and other stakeholders, both virtually and in-person, and contributing to the development of promotional materials and digital strategies.
  • Planning, coordinating, and participating in virtual and in-person school visits, education fairs, campus tours, and recruitment events and ensuring outcome reporting is accurate and timely.
  • Working with prospective students and their families to provide information regarding university admission requirements, academic programs, scholarships, and university life.
  • Fostering relationships and providing outstanding customer service to key influencers and stakeholders such as parents, high school counsellors, post-secondary counsellors, agents, and partners.
  • Effectively use RMS-Recruit system to manage events, collecting contact information of prospective students and others, and using data form the RMS-Recruit system to help prospective students navigate through the various stages of the recruitment funnel.
  • Working closely with the Admissions and Transfer Credit office and the TLSE Service Team to facilitate communication with prospective student, family members and community, high school counsellors and post-secondary counsellors in support of student applications.
  • Maintaining contact with prospective students throughout the recruitment cycle, from prospective student to registered student, by email, telephone, in-person, and the relationship management system (RECRUIT-RMS) as well as other technologies.
  • Participating in the preparing, planning and execution of recruitment and student transition events, organized and hosted by Student Recruitment, including Open House, U-Start, Indigenous Student Experience Day and other on and off campus opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education: Undergraduate degree required. Preference given to qualified candidates who are University of Saskatchewan graduates.Experience: The successful candidate will have demonstrated intercultural competencies and sensitivity, and a proven ability to build effective relationships and collaborations with international as well as internal and external, stakeholders. Experience with data analysis, event planning and/or delivery, public speaking, market research, salesmanship, and knowledge of current campus support services will be considered an asset.Skills: Ability to work and communicate effectively with students from a broad range of backgrounds and cultures; excellent relationship, diplomacy and communication skills including relationship building, both one-on-one and in large group or presentation settings; ability to work as part of the student recruitment team or independently and take initiative; event-planning experience, including demonstrated creativity and experience analyzing market research and data to achieve expected outcomes.Knowledge of USask programs, admission policies, procedures, student support services and facilities and willingness to maintain up to date on all these is an asset; excellent computer skills including a high-level of proficiency in PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and willingness to learn platforms including: RECRUIT - RMS and PAWS.Ability and willingness to travel for extended periods of time. There is also a possibility that international travel would be requested. Must possess and maintain a valid driver\'s license with an acceptable driving record, as well as a valid passport; Evening and weekend work required, with the need to be able to lift 25lbs.Ability to speak multiple languages including those spoken in markets critical to the University of Saskatchewan recruitment plan is an asset.Inquiries regarding this position can be directed to Courtney Schroeder at 306-966-6767.Department: Student Recruitment
