Duties/Responsibilities
Provides marketing and communications support for Children and Youth Planning Table (CYPT) of Waterloo Region projects. Assists to create engaging and visually appealing communications products.
Creates engaging and accessible text, graphics, and videos for CYPT social media channels, website, newsletter, and other products.
Collaborates with team members to develop designs. Incorporates feedback for improved iterations.
Ensures the design products align with the CYPT strategic plan and branding, and ensures applicability to targeted audiences.
Takes photos and videos. Edits videos and podcasts as required.
Provides support to members of the CYPT Backbone Team as needed.
Works in a standard office environment. Occasionally travels to attend meetings.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge and skill in design principles, copy writing, content creation, website development and video editing acquired through current enrollment in a related post-secondary program (e.g., communications, marketing, global business and digital arts).
Knowledge and experience creating engaging social media content (e.g., images, captions, and videos).
Ability to adapt content and voice according to audiences (e.g., children and youth, decision-makers, organizations in Waterloo Region).
Demonstrated ability in design software such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator. Knowledge of WordPress, Adobe Premiere Pro, other Adobe programs, or other design software.
Basic knowledge of legislation and guidelines for creating accessible communications (e.g., AODA, WCAG 2).
Communication and presentation skills to work with program staff to obtain and exchange information, provide support and advice, and participate as an effective team member.
Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, and related legislation (e.g., accessibility, privacy).
Knowledge of industry best standards and principles (e.g., Canadian Public Relations Society, International Association for Public Participation).
Demonstrated ability to write effectively in plain language and in a range of voices and creative styles for varied audiences and delivery methods/platforms (e.g., print, web, social media).
Ability to travel within Waterloo Region.
Ability to support and demonstrate the Region and CYPT's values.
