Your opportunity:

Working with a dynamic team and under the general direction of the Director, Student Engagement and Campus Life, you will be dedicated to the enrichment of the co-curricular life of the campus by assisting with the delivery of programs and services, providing administrative support for campus groups, volunteers, work-study students, as well as front-line support for the department.

You will have responsibility for assisting in coordinating the Campus Group Recognition process, including providing information on processes, reviewing and following up constitution applications and supplementary documents; room bookings and initial review of risk assessment matrix; ensuring clubs and societies adhere to university policies, procedures, and regulations; monitoring and escalating events that are determined \xe2\x80\x9chigh risk\xe2\x80\x9d and informing and documenting issues; facilitation of student events on campus and advising on the management of regular student special events.

In addition, you will be assisting in developing, implementing and arranging logistics of orientation and advising sessions for student groups; mentoring and problem-solving in the course of student life programming; participating in the creation of student life resources, and helping build a sense of community amongst groups.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for general enquiries, resolving issues within the scope of the role and escalating problems as required
  • Determining logistical details and activities forevents and/or programming
  • Liaising with internal and external contacts to coordinate execution of seminars and workshops, including coordination of space and resource requirements
  • Fostering cooperative working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external contacts
  • Advising student groups on the development of clubs and societies and using established criteria when approving student club applications
  • Screening and making referrals to appropriate resources and services
  • Handling expenses for events
  • Assigning and checking the work of work-study students and directing the activities of casual staff
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\'s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum two years of work-related experience in a student development/student life role at the post-secondary education level
  • Strong experiential background in student life and student government issues
  • Experience working with diverse communities, student advising and an ability to work within an anti-oppressive/equity framework
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills
  • Strong event management skills, excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Intermediate computer proficiency using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Experience with databases, web development, graphic design and publishing software
  • Must possess the ability to relate to students in a manner that builds trust and confidence
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability to implement programs
  • Must have the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines

USW Pay Band 09 -- $60,006 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $76,739. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
