The Opportunity





Reporting directly to the Coordinator, Invasive Species, this role is responsible for supporting the Invasive Species, Forestry, and Horticulture programs implemented by the Town of Caledon. You will assist in the management and control of invasive species and contribute to environmental stewardship efforts throughout the Town's parks, woodlots, and streetscape environments. You will be responsible for various fieldwork, data collection, and community engagement activities. As the Student, Invasive Species, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:


Carry out operations throughout Town-owned parks, woodlots, and streetscape environments including but not limited to invasive species monitoring and management, urban tree inventory, tree maintenance operations, trail operations, and horticulture operations. Perform duties to support the planning and implementation of the invasive species program including priority invasive plant control (invasive Phragmites, invasive knotweeds, invasive woody species etc.), noxious weed control, and early detection monitoring of forest pests. Support the delivery of community invasive species stewardship events and monitoring activities as needed. Assist with the development/compilation of educational materials on invasive species for internal and external communications (i.e., reference documents, website, and social media content) as needed. Ensure efficient, conscientious, and safe work is carried out in all activities and work programs as prepared by the Coordinator, Invasive Species. Perform additional duties and undertake special projects as assigned.



The Ideal Candidate





We are seeking an enthusiastic student working towards a degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent, who will be returning to school in Fall of 2026.



The ideal candidate will have demonstrated an interest in environmental conservation and sustainability. We are seeking an individual with superior communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, and excellent customer service skills.



The successful candidate for this position will be required to work a flexible schedule, including both in the office and outdoors, and may need to work after hours on occasion (as required).




Satisfactory proof of schooling or return to school, may be requested.
