The Role
This will include:
Monitoring livestock during lambing and calving
Daily rounds include checking livestock for signs of illness and ensuring they have adequate feed and water.
Processing animals
Assisting farm staff
Possible feeding duties
General farm duties
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will be enrolled in high school, any post secondary learning institution, or any vocational learning institution. Farming experience is preferred, necessary skills and attributes to be successful in this role include:
Be in good physical condition with the ability to lift 25 kilograms to undertake manual labor,
Ability to work a flexible schedule & work in unpredictable weather conditions,
Must be mature, responsible and a self-starter who may have to work unsupervised but also have the ability to take direction,
Assist in light mechanical repairs and infrastructure maintenance,
Preference given to an individual with experience working in agriculture with some livestock experience,
Applicant should have a current class 5 driver's license, able to maintain hygiene of the facility and environment.
Farm equipment knowledge would be an asset but not require.
