In accordance with Letter of Understanding #1 - Student Employees, and in coordination with the professor and appropriate Learning/Success Centre Coordinator or Campus Manager

the Student assists with activities related to providing learning assistance, thereby enabling those students to better understand concepts which have been presented in lectures.
Functions and Duties
The Student will assist the supervisor by performing the following duties:
1. Attend all lectures for their assigned course section.
2. Offer learning assistance as required each week to students to review concepts presented in class.
3. Work with the professor to create innovative student support activities which lead to improved student success.
4. Regularly communicate with professor, learning/success centre coordinators, and/or campus manager.
5. Performs other duties as assigned.
Position Specific Functions
Education and Experience
Enrolled in a post-secondary program at Okanagan College
Prior work experience is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency in the content of the assigned course
Excellent time management skills to coordinate provision of both individual and small group learning assistance
Effective writing & organizational skills
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Ability to pay significant attention to detail
Position Specific Education and Experience
Previous completion of the assigned course with a final mark of 75% or higher
Preference will be given to those with experience offering learning assistance
