This part-time, term contract student position is open and reserved for current UNF students only.*


Primary Purpose:


The Career Services Assistant will support the department by assisting with various career readiness initiatives, student engagement, and event coordination. This role offers a hands-on opportunity for students to gain experience in career development, student services, and event management while contributing to the success of their peers in preparing for their future careers. The intern will work closely with career advisors and other team members to enhance student participation and engagement in Career Services programs, while also fostering connections with local employers and community organizations.


Specific Responsibilities:

Outreach & Promotion



Act as a "Career Services Ambassador" by promoting events, resources, and workshops. Host outreach tables on campus and support department presence at events like Open House and Orientation. Contribute ideas for the Career Services Newsletter and help identify engagement opportunities across campus. Career Programming & Peer Support Monitor student progress in the Career Readiness Workshop Series and notify the Career Advisor upon completion. Follow up with participants to encourage completion and provide guidance. Lead peer discussion groups on topics such as resumes, job searching, and interviews. Respond to student inquiries about Career Services.

Administration & Other



Provide administrative support for the student job board and assist in identifying part-time opportunities in collaboration with internal departments. Support the planning and delivery of key events such as Dress for Success, Resume Roulette, and the Career Services Retreat. Participate in staff meetings and contribute to departmental planning and initiatives. Be available for some evening and weekend work. Perform other tasks as assigned, contributing to the overall success of UNF.

Competencies:



Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Demonstrated initiative and ability to take ownership of projects. Ability to engage and interact positively with students, staff, and employers. Comfortable with providing support and coaching to peers. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience in event planning or outreach

Opportunity Requirements:



Enrolled as a student withing the University of Niagara Falls Canada during the entire duration of the contract. Preferred that at start date, student has completed one term. Preference for cumulative average of 70%. Must be available for a minimum of 1 shift per week. Must be available for evening and weekend work, as scheduled. Experience in a customer service role is required. Strong interest in career development, student services, or related fields.
