Job Description

The UPEI Faculty of Education is seeking an education student to help facilitate early years and school-age programs which are both part of the Literacy & Numeracy Outreach Project.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate in training and program development sessions
• Plan and deliver arts & play-based, inquiry-led activities to help boost literacy and numeracy skills in children aged 2 - 8 years
• Plan and deliver arts & play-based after-school tutoring sessions to help support the literacy and numeracy needs of school age children
• Work closely with families to foster a sense of community and a supportive, active learning environment

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Successful candidate will be enrolled in a UPEI graduate program
• Previous experience and or training with early years and early childhood education
• Knowledge of early numeracy and early literacy development
• Understanding of social & emotional learning
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with a team
• An understanding of play pedagogy, project-based learning and holistic education would be considered an asset
• A Bachelor of Education degree will be considered an asset

A valid driver\'s license and transportation are required to travel to different program sites. Students will receive mileage compensation.
