Student Accounts is responsible for overseeing incoming tuition fee payments (receivables) as well as outgoing student refunds (payables) for both undergraduate and graduate students at SFU. We ensure the financial data integrity of the Student Information System (SIS) and support the General University Revenue (GUR).

About the Role




Provides senior clerical accounting support for an assigned area of accounting services (e.g., student accounts receivable; research accounting; treasury; and/or banking; etc.) involving liabilities, income taxes, and analysis of associated financial data. The incumbent tracks and accounts for all revenue coming through Student Services; ensures exception reports are resolved in a timely manner; provides guidance to front counter staff in troubleshooting irregularities on student accounts receivables; provides instruction and direction on the processing of complex student account transactions; analyzes financial data to uncover and reconcile anomalies; responds to student, staff and department inquiries; reviews, analyses and approves exemptions to established procedures; coordinates the application and follow through of student applications for payment plans; provides general clerical and administrative support; provides general financial and bookkeeping support; makes recommendations to the Director, Student Financials for modifications to student accounts receivable in the Student Information Management System (SIMS) to improve and enhance business practices and service; disburses fee payments to the Graduate and Undergraduate Student Society and Health Plans; and provides training to temporary staff and directs their work during semester peak periods.
