Job Summary:

This position reports directly to the Manager of Applications Engineering and is responsible for technical interface with potential customers and the coordination and development of preliminary level designs, execution planning, and construction planning of STT\'s integrated systems, components, and equipment supply. The Applications Engineer develops estimates and documentation describing the offered equipment and services and assists in the compilation of bid packages. The Applications Engineer will also from time to time assist the Field Service department with installation verification and consultation, troubleshooting, and start-up support assistance on site for our customers.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Review customer requirements and challenges remote and in person
  • Evaluate and propose possible solutions to customers
  • Act as primary technical interface with customer through sales process
  • Develop preliminary designs and solutions for customer
  • Create sketches or other relevant documents necessary to explain and define scope to customer and balance estimating team
  • Specify equipment sizing based on the design requirements
  • Clarify any technical details of proposals
  • Provide options for specific client requests
  • Assist in the preparation of request for quotations to equipment vendors
  • Provide guidance in the Planning of construction/assembly schedules, shipping methods, engineering requirements
  • Develop the Completed budget (PBU)
  • Writing and review of technical proposals
  • Review of bid documents including general arrangement drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical load diagrams, and others as required
  • Follow all handover procedures when a job is won, and ensure client communication is fully documented and available to the execution team after handover.
  • Provide feedback and information as needed to project teams throughout the life of the project regarding the design directions and agreements made throughout the application development process
  • Provide on site field service in the form of Installation Consultation and System Audits, including the writing of reports resulting from these activities
  • Technical Support for the Sales Group at customer sites/offices and conferences/exhibitions.
  • Ensure adherence to the STT Quality Management System
Job Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience in developing costs for designing and supply of integrated systems
  • Engineering degree
  • A member of a professional engineering association is considered an asset
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem solving ability
  • Detail oriented
  • Excellent understanding of equipment design, layout and process engineering.
  • Proficiency in reading/interpreting engineering information such as General Arrangement drawings, PFDs/P&IDs, wiring diagrams
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Valid Passport to travel Internationally
  • Valid Driver\'s license
Work environment
  • Typical hours: 37.5 hour work weeks - hours vary due to work. Additional hours may be required
  • Travel may be required
  • Warehouse or construction site environment at times.
