We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent Structures Lead Hand - Tank Build. Reporting to the Tank Build & Shop Manufacturing Sheet Metal Crew Leader, the Structures Lead Hand - Tank Build position supports the Crew Leader in supervising day-to-day tank build activities, providing technical assistance, and problem solving. The Lead Hand has an active role supporting each project from induction to completion and assisting in maintaining the overall schedules.



In this role your duties include:



Responsible for the safety of employees working on your project, promoting our safety/professional culture through the day-to-day operation of the crew; Assist in the supervision and direction of tank build crews, ensuring a high level of productivity and quality and that workload is distributed appropriately. Assign everyday workload to crew and ensure productivity objectives are met; Assist in troubleshooting discrepancies which arise within assigned work; Ensure all paperwork within their scope is completed in an accurate, timely matter and adheres to the Company Policy/Procedures manual and CARs; Actively involved in non-conformities and Quality findings, and effectively communicate them (RFs) to the CL, Engineering and QA as necessary; Liaise with Crew Leader and engineering regarding product improvement, drawing updates (RFs), processes and procedures supporting continuous improvements; Liaise with other departments working on assigned projects; Maintenance, Engineering, Planning, Stores, Purchasing and Avionics to ensure all facets of the project or work assignment are progressing; Work independently and take initiative in problem-solving situations out of the ordinary; Responsible for interpreting drawings, EOs, and other engineering documents accurately which support the tank build program; Monitor critical project/program milestones and provide status feedback; Support tank inspection and delivery activities by traveling to vendor and customer locations during critical phases of a project or program; Take ownership of structural build improvements, supporting the evolution of our manufacturing approach and product Act as a key technical point for the tank structural system, with direct influence on design interpretation, manufacturability, and build efficiency; Other related duties as assigned.

We are looking for someone with:



A thorough knowledge of administrative functions including standard practices, technical safety, regulatory, material procurement and handling, production, prototyping, planning and scheduling, design and quality assurance procedures; Knowledge of aircraft Sheet Metal properties, applications and associated limitations; Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required; Problem solver, analytical and a team player; Competency in the use of Microsoft Office tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Training/Education:



Grade 12 and formalised training in the aircraft structures trade; A minimum of 5 years experience as a structures technician is essential; Previous experience as a Lead Hand is an asset; * Must hold a valid AME 'S' license.
