Position Summary:



De Havilland Aircraft of Canada is seeking experienced and highly skilled Structures Engineers to join our Engineering team. This role is ideal for a professional with deep expertise in aircraft structural design and development, including advanced drafting and 3D modelling using CATIA V5, and a strong understanding of structural analysis principles. The candidate must also possess a solid working knowledge of configuration management practices and tools as applied to aerospace product development.



Key Responsibilities:



Lead the development of detailed 3D models and 2D drawings of aircraft structural components and assemblies using CATIA V5. Provide technical oversight and mentorship to junior engineers in areas of design, modelling, and drafting best practices. Perform and support preliminary and detailed structural analysis, including basic hand calculations and support to FEA analysts. Ensure compliance with certification requirements and integration of airworthiness regulations (TCCA, FAA, EASA) into structural design solutions. Work cross-functionally with Stress, Materials & Processes, Production, and Certification teams to deliver complete, manufacturable, and certifiable structural designs. Participate in and lead design reviews, incorporating feedback from multi-disciplinary stakeholders. Support the resolution of production, flight test, and in-service structural issues with rapid and practical engineering solutions. Apply best practices in configuration management, including change control, traceability, and document/version management across multiple systems and programs.

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. 10+ years of experience in aircraft structural design, with demonstrated involvement in all phases of product lifecycle development. Expertise in CATIA V5 (including Part Design, Assembly, Drafting, Generative Shape Design modules). Strong understanding of aircraft structural analysis, including static strength, fatigue, and damage tolerance. Familiarity with FEA tools and methodologies (e.g., NASTRAN, Patran, HyperMesh) is an asset. Deep understanding of aerospace materials, joining techniques, and production processes. Proficiency in configuration management principles and tools such as ENOVIA, SmarTeam, or similar PLM/PDM systems. Experience managing design changes, maintaining configuration baselines, and applying rigorous version control practices. Strong communication, leadership, and documentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications:



Prior experience with legacy aircraft platforms, modifications, or aftermarket support. Working knowledge of certification documentation processes, including DER support. Experience in design-to-cost and design-for-manufacturing approaches.
