Summary
Reporting to Site Superintendent, the Structural Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the overall structure of the project. The Structural Superintendent would achieve high standard of project delivery and operations excellence through planning and scheduling, organizing, trade management, directing, and controlling activities linked to structure.*

About the Role*
Construction Leadership

  • Participate with pre-construction activities.
  • Plan, schedule, organize, direct and control structure activities from start to finish.
  • In liaison with Site Superintendent, ensures that project is constructed in accordance with plans, specifications, shop drawings, applicable building codes, quality, and OHSA standards.
  • Drives the structure schedule supporting the Last Planner System
  • Oversee day-to-day structure activities
  • Supervise the activities of structure related subcontractors and subordinate staff
  • Ensure structure subcontractors adhere to scope of work, schedule, safety, and deficiency corrections
  • Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding all work being performed
  • When required, lead project meetings with all internal and external stakeholders to monitor and support the project's progress in Site Superintendents absence
  • Coordinate and communicate RFI's, Shop Drawing Submittals as they relate to the structure scope. Following up with all RFI's created
  • Review drawings for constructability, identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to Site Superintendent and other project team members for resolution.
  • Manage materials and service purchase orders as per Marcon policy, as related to structural scope
  • Where required for the Structure Scope, provide project reporting in accordance with Marcon's standards (including daily logs, photos, weekly reports, and other).
  • Support Site Superintendent with financial management of project (budget and cost control), where required.
  • Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions for structure scope.
People Leadership
  • Lead structure designated project staff and sub contractors.
  • Conduct employee orientations and site training as they relate to structure scope.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports and give feedback on other employee performance to support people development.
  • Fosters a teamwork approach for achieving objectives.
  • Mentor and coach employees to allow growth and learning.
Process Leadership
  • Engage with continuous improvement of Marcon's process and systems as it relates to the structure scope.
  • Promote and execute Marcon's Operations system and processes, including the Last Planner System and Procore software.
  • Ensure and champion use of Marcon's application technologies at the job site.
  • Use of key performance indicators to ensure continuous learning and improvement.
Safety Leadership
  • Promote Marcon's safety management system, and zero accident culture.
  • Ensure pro-active safety process and adherence to OHSA regulations.
  • Ensure all subcontractors are following Marcon's safety standards.
  • Support and uphold COR certification standards.
Quality Leadership
  • Ensure Marcon's standards for quality and brand is maintained.
  • Ensure corrective and preventive actions are in place for reduction of rework.
About You
  • 10 years experience in multi family residential construction
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Combination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification
  • Working knowledge of health & safety practices and procedures
  • Solid understanding of current construction practices, knowledge on Lean Construction & Last Planner System an asset
  • Knowledge of project construction law and building codes
  • Ability to identifying constructability issues and creating solutions in the construction plan and schedule
