Job Description


Job Summary:
We are currently looking for a Structural/Civil Engineer-In-Training (EIT) on a full-time basis to provide structural design for projects and assist our team of engineers with research and development of new products. Under the Senior Engineers direction, you will assist with structural design and detailing of steel structures, pedestrian bridges and bridge components such as expansion joints and bearings.

Position: Structural Engineer - In-Training (EIT)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform engineering calculations and assessments for steel and concrete structures, under the supervision of a Senior Engineer.
  • Perform these calculations using latest design software and advanced finite element modeling underpinned by a sound understanding of basic principles.
  • Design and detailing of bolted and welded steel connections.
  • Prepare and review engineering and shop drawings, and ensure quality adherence.
  • Work with a Senior Engineer to design bridge components such as bearings and expansion joints.
  • Assist and provide input in preparing quotes.
  • Assist with research and development of new products.
  • Occasional site visits.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiar with Canadian Building and Material Codes.
  • Expertise in building design and construction in steel and concrete.
  • Expertise in the S6-14/19 Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code is beneficial but not essential.
  • Proficient in the use of structural modeling & drawing software such as AutoCAD.
  • Demonstrate written and verbal English communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

Required Training and Experience:
  • Degree in civil engineering.
  • Further training in Structural Engineering beneficial.
