Mission

We are currently looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team based out of St. John\xe2\x80\x99s, Newfoundland or Halifax, Nova Scotia. This person should have strong interpersonal skills and experience in structural engineering design/analysis. Project management experience will be considered an asset. This is an opportunity to be part of a newer team with room to grow and participate in multidisciplinary projects (such as and facilities, commercial, institutional, and government projects) and work with professionals that are contributing to the successful growth of their team and business. This is a hybrid position based in St John\'s, NL with regular travel to Labrador City, NL at a frequency of 4 weeks in the home region (Newfoundland) and 2 weeks in Labradory city will be required for this position.

Primary Responsibilities

• Work within a multidisciplinary design team as a Project Engineer, reporting to the Project Manager
• Complete site visits to document existing conditions in both greenfield and brownfield projects
• Carry out structural detailed design / analysis (related to General Arrangements, structural steel, concrete, etc.)
• Prepare detailed drawing review and mark-up for designers/drafters
• Complete budgetary estimates, write proposals, technical reports and studies
• Familiar with structural analysis software (STAAD.Pro)
• Participate in formal engineering review processes
• Complete projects from kick-off through completion of Construction / Commissioning
• Work on industrial (with focus on mining and hydroelectric facilities), commercial, institutional, and government projects

Profile

• University Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
• Registered as an EIT or P. Eng. with the Professional Engineers and Geoscientists Newfoundland and Labrador (PEGNL)
• Minimum of 5 years of related experience
• Experience in site work, detailed design, project engineering and construction
• Willing to travel to remote work sites. Regular travel to the Labrador City, NL office at a frequency of 4 weeks in the home region (Newfoundland) and 2 weeks in Labradory city will be required for this position
• Capacity to interact within a multidisciplinary environment
• Project management experience is an asset
• Capability to interact with our client base in order to clearly understand their problems and recommend solutions
