Structural Engineer

Job Description

This role is office-based with occasional travel to site.



Key Responsibilities:



Assist the Engineering Manager/Lead Structural Engineer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, cost, and schedules

Work to ensure the implementation of safety and integrity principles in structural documentation.

Promote compliance with all relevant engineering standards and internal procedures for all design activities.

Maintain structural engineering work procedures, specifications, and computer aided design programs.

Prepare engineering calculations.

Prepare technical specifications based on input received from other disciplines.

Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise.

Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates.

Prepare and/or review project standard specifications and design criteria.

Participate in and contribute to design reviews.

Carry out assigned tasks within budget and schedule.

Stamp documents and drawings as required and if appropriately registered.

Manage small capital and maintenance projects.

Assist in defining project scope. Perform site visit to various client site for review, inspection, and assessment of existing structures.

Assist in preparing proposals.

Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians, and technologists.

Assist in the compilation and delivery of weekly/monthly engineering status reports.

High-voltage and power system design experience

Experiences of transmission and distribution lines, as well as the taps that interconnect these transmission lines to the main grid.

Development of new power system and protection model for 25kV/5kV/600V substation and MCC.

Electric system modeling, protection settings development, electrical automation/management system development, and metering/SCADA system development

Qualifications:



Bachelor's degree in structural engineering or in a related field

5+ years of experience working in engineering

Firm grasp of engineering concepts, and experience designing mechanical systems and products

Excellent math skills: ability to apply advanced mathematical principles and statistics to solve problems

Experience using CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Smart Plant or similar

Exceptional technical and problem-solving skills and reasoning ability

Ability to communicate effectively and clearly

Must be self-motivated and a great team worker
