Above all, we believe that collaboration is the best way forward.Reporting to the Structural Section Manager, the Structural EIT/Designer is the member of the integrated project team that works with the Structural Engineer and performs structural engineering analysis for the project during the design phase of our work. This includes structure and foundation design work. The project mix is varied across building and non-building structures in collaboration with other business groups within HDR including Architectural, Water, Resources, and Transportation Business Groups. The role involves working on multiple projects with project sites in various locations. The Structural EIT/Designer may be involved in construction contract administration, site inspections on different projects, and condition assessments. A common career progression for this position is advancement to the role of Structural Engineer for building structures.Primary ResponsibilitiesIn the role of Structural EIT/Designer, we\'ll count on you to:

  • Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations and assist in the preparation of cost estimates and specifications for structural engineering projects.
  • Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
  • Demonstrate experience in structural drafting of all phases of the construction documents, and create structural drawings in AutoCAD and Revit from engineering sketches and instruction.
  • Work independently on small projects or assist more senior engineers on larger projects.
  • Give direction to clerical and technical personnel as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired Qualifications
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in civil or Structural Engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Structural Designer" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
  • Requires understanding of gravity analysis and lateral analysis.
  • Experience using structural analysis software, such as SAP2000, ETABS, SAFE or RAM Elements, etc., and working knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, BIM 360, Bluebeam
  • Strong skills with Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel)
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
  • Must be an excellent communicator, self-starter and able to coordinate work with other team members effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Previous structural design experience (internship or full-time work experience) is a plus, but not required..
  • AutoCAD and/or Revit experience is a plus.
  • Understanding of applicable design codes and specification requirements.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in facility structural engineering design for Concrete, Steel, and Masonry structures.
  • Experience in coding, programming, and design automation a plus.
