We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented StreetWorks Lived Experience Harm Reduction Worker to join our team on a temporary contract. This role provides direct support services within the framework of the StreetWorks program. The harm reduction program aims to reduce the transmission of HIV and other blood-borne infections among people who use drugs, to engage clients and support them into testing and treatment services, and to provide individuals with harm reduction education and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

StreetWorks Program Harm Reduction Services Distribute harm reduction materials and information, including syringes and inhalation equipment, as per public health regulations and protocols Train individuals at risk of an opioid overdose on how to recognise and response to an overdose using naloxone Provide verbal and written messages on HIV/AIDS, HCV, STBBI risk reduction Keep program spaces organized and ensure stock remains at a consistent level Accept and put away deliveries of program supplies Outreach & Referrals Promote StreetWorks programs and link clients to social services and community supports Provide occasional evening outreach services Group Facilitation Support or lead small group activities, such as community clean ups and kit making. Documentation & Reporting Recording client interactions, referrals, supply distribution Complete naloxone distribution logs, incident reports Contribute to date collection and reporting for program evaluation and funding requirements Teamwork & Organizational Involvement Work collaboratively with system navigators, outreach staff, and other agency programs to provide integrated support. Participate in team meetings, staff training, and professional development opportunities Represent the agency's mission, vision, and harm reduction philosophy at all times.
Qualifications:

Self-identify as an individual with lived or living experience of substance use (required). Previous involvement in peer support, outreach, or harm reduction work (asset). Training in overdose response, naloxone administration, or peer engagement (preferred, can be provided). CPR/First Aid certification (preferred). Strong understanding of harm reduction principles and ability to apply them in practice. Knowledge of community resources Ability to engage with individuals with compassion, respect and non-judgement Skills in de-escalation, crisis response and advocacy Comfortable with using computer software and databases French language skills considered an asset Satisfactory police records check (may include vulnerable sector check)

Pay: $24.72-$30.56 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
