Position: Strategic Sourcing & Logistics Manager

Reports to: Director, Operational Excellence

Position Term: Full Time

Workplace Type: Remote across Canada

Job Purpose:

The Manager, Strategic Sourcing and Logistics leads the strategic sourcing and logistics team and manages the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of activities related to the sourcing and acquisition of goods and services, supplier assessment and performance improvement, improvement of supply chain management and processes, logistics and warehouse operations. The Manager assists in the design of and develops strategic sourcing and logistics strategies and initiatives to reduce cycle time, achieve process efficiency and deliver cost savings and additional non-financial value to the organization. They work collaboratively with other business units to ensure procurement, sourcing and logistics needs are met in a timely manner and within the budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Sourcing and Procurement (55%)

  • Assist in the design and develop large-scale complex procurement strategies, RFX (RFI, RFP, RFQ) documents, and evaluation frameworks.
  • Strategically source new vendors for better quality and suitability and negotiate for better prices and/or increased overall value.
  • Conduct annual planning to streamline repetitive procurement of goods and services and prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports on procurement spend and savings.
  • Collaborate and participate in quarterly planning with other business units to ensure sourcing requirements are defined, approved, and procured in a timely, well-documented and cost-efficient manner.
  • Lead World Vision Canada\'s business units through sourcing and contract negotiations, in accordance with relevant policies and procedures, to achieve cost savings and the best price within the required timelines.
  • Manage the performance and contracts of long-term and short-term suppliers and update database as needed while arranging for preferred supplier agreements.
  • Assist in the development and review of purchasing and logistics policies and procedures and make appropriate recommendations that reflect best practice.
Logistics Management (25%)
  • Plan and manage logistics and warehouse functions within World Vision Canada.
  • Oversee and monitor the storage and distribution of goods, including the logistics for overseas shipments to the field.
  • Collaborate with the relevant business units and suppliers to ensure seamless and timely coordination of logistics for the Gift-in-Kind program (donated goods).
  • Establish and manage mechanisms for tracking quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transport/shipping costs and efficiency.
  • Maintain metrics to assess performance and implement improvements.
  • Ensure that team members, other business units and suppliers comply with relevant safety standards, and other relevant laws, regulations and procedures.
Team Leadership (20%)
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Strategic Sourcing and Logistics team to ensure the delivery of excellent service and the achievement of key performance targets in a timely manner.
  • Foster an environment of trust, collaboration, and psychological safety within the team.
  • Lead direct reports in accordance with World Vision Canada\'s core values.
  • Coach direct reports through improvement of their soft skills in engaging with others.
  • Provide support and direction in professional development related to strategic sourcing and logistics.
Qualifications required:
  • 10 years\' experience in strategic sourcing and logistics management preferred.
  • Experience negotiating high-value information technology contracts and other types of service contracts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the requirements to manage, negotiate and lead cross functional teams through sourcing events.
  • Strong background and comprehensive understanding of procurement issues and deliverables; in-depth knowledge of supply chain management processes and systems.
  • Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP) designation preferred.
  • Excellent strategic negotiation skills, with proven experience in successful negotiating high -level contracts.
  • Process improvement mindset that continuously strives to evolve ways of working and improve the end-user experience.
  • Knowledge and applied experience with relevant methodologies and techniques (spend cube, service level agreement development, etc.).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience of working in a non-profit organization is an asset.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in a related field such as Supply Chain Management is considered an asset.
