Strategic Program Management Lead
This is a Venture Manager, Canola Pipeline Delivery Long-Term Strategy position who will lead the design and development of the optimal strategy for a consolidated, efficient, and sustainable end-to-end pipeline delivery operations for Canola that is adaptable to future breeding strategies and needs of the market. They will work in alignment with the Steering Committee and in partnership with the Cap-Ex (Capital Expenditure) Project Manager and a cross-functional team in defining and fulfilling the business justification, objectives as well as the CapEx and non-CapEx needs of the project. They will work in conjunction with the CapEx Project Manager to ensure adherence to Bayer\xe2\x80\x99s Corporate Directive 11 and the stage gate process.
The Venture Manager will report to the Steering Committee and supports the communication to divisional upper management from Project Initiation (Gate 0) to Project Approval (Gate 3) of the stage gate review process. In conjunction with the Project Manager and stakeholders, they will lead the development of the project\xe2\x80\x99s full scope, key milestones, detailed project plans, technical designs, and feasibility analysis.
This is a 12-month term remotely based position in Canada.
What you will do:

  • Ensure strategic fit of the project goals to the Canola business strategy and collaborate with stakeholders and business units to develop the business rationale, preliminary cost estimates (starting at FEL1 (Front-End Loading)) and milestone schedules for business case and gate reviews.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of site and operating models (incl. cost estimate, options for CapEx avoidance or deferment, regulatory analysis, financial evaluation, DCF, financial sensitivity analysis) per relevant procedure.
  • Develop an aligned scope, matching with business requirements in the FEL0 through FEL2 stages, and compiles the project requirement specification (scope definition) by collaborating with stakeholders and the project team.
  • Ensure project staffing with focus on divisional resources, escalate to the Steering Committee if resource gap could not be resolved by common processes.
  • Develop, propose and lead cross-functional project organization in collaboration with the CapEx Project Manager and other workstream leads.
  • Coordinate all project meetings, collaboration, and drive Stakeholder Management. Implement a structured governance mechanism and cadence to ensure that the project objectives are completed on-time and within budget.
  • Lead risk assessments and implementation of mitigation measures until close-out of the project by collaborating with the CapEx Project Manager and other workstream leads.
  • Lead the stage gate project reviews, focusing on R1 through R3.1, to safeguard the project maturity at each gate and defines milestones in collaboration with the CapEx Project Manager.
  • Ensure that the approved business objectives of the project are met.
  • Develop and track the overall project schedule, including all workstreams (CapEx and non-CapEx as defined in the project) and all necessary activities after the CapEx project completion.
  • Ensure, in collaboration with the CapEx Project Manager, adherence to Corporate Directive 11 and implement best practices such as lessons learned and benchmarking with other sites.

Who you are:
  • Direct leadership experience in setting up a multimillion-dollar enterprise-wide project requiring a significant budgetary responsibility associated with the project
  • Strong business acumen, experienced partnering with other senior leaders for decision making
  • Knowledge in designing or evaluating business models and conducting financial/feasibility analysis.
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Business/Finance, Agriculture, Engineering or related disciplines with relevant experience
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze a business, influence and collaborate with stakeholders across multiple functions to drive significant business results. Proven success working with all levels of management.
  • Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse set of stakeholders to resolve conflicts in a constructive manner. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience with MS Office applications and data visualization/analysis tools. Demonstrated ability in leveraging data analysis to determine insights and make recommendations and decisions.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision in a diverse team environment.
  • Ability to travel to other relevant domestic and international sites to obtain insights and best practices

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of the Canola/the Agricultural business, market drivers and industry trends.
  • Knowledge of field or controlled environment crop production processes, agronomic practices, production laboratory operations and/or seed processing operations. Knowledge in managing associated workflows, processes, resources, and technologies involved in crop production and product research & development.
  • Formal Project Management training and/or PMP (Project Management Professional) designation is an asset.
  • Working knowledge and experience on process optimization methodologies, automation technologies and resource management.
  • Experience in facilitating strategic planning, process mapping, stakeholder management and implementing change management principles.
  • Experience leading a large, multi-disciplinary project.
  • Valid Driver\'s License
