Position Overview




ABC Recycling Ltd. is seeking a Stormwater Environmental Technician will be responsible for overseeing ABC's Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley facilities (Burnaby, Surrey & Abbotsford) water treatment systems by testing and sampling the water quality to ensure water treatment systems are fully operational.

Responsibilities



Executes and leads stormwater maintenance and operation programs at ABC's Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley facilities. Conducts critical analysis of treatment train and provides recommendations for improvement as needed. Conducts environmental sampling using strict chain of custody procedures and system inspections. Operates, monitors and maintains equipment used as part of water treatment system including but not limited to: catch-basin inserts, pumps, piping and downstream treatment works. Monitors, adjusts and coordinates replacement of flocculant as needed. Coordinates replacement of carbon media as needed. Identifies issues and conduct incident investigations related to the water treatment system. Develops troubleshooting guidance for treatment plant operation. Completes data entry and trend analysis on water quality. Assists with environmental compliance efforts including internal and external environmental auditing and follow-up corrective action planning. Coordinates tank cleanouts, training opportunities, and assistance with environmental compliance efforts during the dry season months. Promotes a culture of safety and helps managers drive a shared safety culture. Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications



B.C. Environmental Operators Certification Program (EOCP) Level I or II Municipal Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification an asset. Grade 12 high school diploma or trade certification. 1+ years' experience working in water treatment operations, maintenance, related support systems an asset. Physically capable of performing the duties of the position. Experience and familiarity with lockout-tagout procedures. Exposure to site safety programs and practices is an asset. Proficient with MS Office tools and comfortable with data entry and use of tracking systems. Must be able to travel to other ABC facilities (primarily Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley but potentially to other BC locations where ABC operates) as it may be required. A valid Class 5 driver's license is required. First Aid ticket preferred but not required. An eagerness to learn and contribute and an overall positive attitude. Good written and verbal communication skills.
