Reporting directly to the Manager of Environmental Services, and indirectly to the Director, Long-Term Care, the Storekeeper is responsible for the ordering, receipt, inventory, storage and delivery of supplies and equipment from central stores at the G. Tackaberry and Family Home.
Qualifications:
Education, Certification and Licenses
Grade 12 secondary diploma.
Post-secondary certificate/diploma in materials management/procurement.
Valid Class G driver's license.
Experience
Experience with procurement of parts including use of on-line parts ordering systems.
Familiarity in operating a computerized inventory system considered an asset.
Experience using mobilized lift equipment considered an asset.
Knowledge:
Knowledge of the purchasing of parts including use of on-line parts ordering systems.
Proficient on computer software such as MS Office Suite (i.e. Word, Outlook and Excel), the internet, and computerized inventory systems.
Mechanical aptitude considered an asset.

SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Activity 1

Receiving and Delivery
(40%)
Receive shipments, withdrawing required material from inventory for distribution.
Safely deliver and distribute supplies/equipment/furniture by hand, dolly or mobile lift equipment, to appropriate shelves, storage, staging and user locations, in a timely manner to meet inventory levels.
Maintain a supply and distribution system of times to individual departments.
Unload, receive, break out, confirm and sign for correctness of deliveries.
Safely use mobile lift equipment; loading and unloading as required.
Correlate packing slips while ensuring quality and quantity of orders.
Report and document discrepancies or damages in shipments.
Record and arrange for vendor returns.
Submit documentation for processing.
Maintain organization, cleanliness, and security of storage areas.
Dispose of waste packaging materials.
Responsible for supply run when required.
Activity 2
- Purchasing
(30%)
Create and issue purchase orders, and other requisitions, to maintain/restock ongoing inventory at approved levels.
Ensure goods are received in a timely manner; follow-up as required.
Code packing slips with work order numbers, stock numbers and/or account codes.
As required, collaborate with and assist the Manager of Environmental Services in processing special order purchase orders. When required, assist in confirming competitive best-for-value pricing.
Consult with Managers and other key personnel regarding requisitioning of items, quality, effectiveness and durability of products.
Maintain accurate records in accordance with established procedures.
Track low limits/re-order points of stock, monitoring daily stock levels and ordering accordingly.
Maintain data entries for computerized material management inventory control system, adjusting and maintaining inventory levels to agree with physical count.
Maintain furniture and equipment asset ledgers.
Document, track and process equipment warranty information.
Maintain and file copies of all product and equipment manuals and WHMIS documentation; ensure distribution as required.
As requested, required, supply information to the Manager of Environmental Services /Procurement Coordinator for tender needs.
Complete other scheduled audits of stock as requested/required.
Tracking low limits of stock, monitoring daily stock levels and ordering accordingly.
Activity
4 -Miscellaneous
(10%)
Maintain adherence to ethical purchasing and business practices, including obtaining and retaining best-value competitive products, fairness and impartiality in all phases of purchasing.
Monitor waste containment, capacity.
As requested, required, run errands, pick ups and/or deliveries.
Maintain an organized, safe, and clean work environment.
Participate in staff meetings, in-services, and workshops as requested/required.
Assist with the orientation of new employees to the department.
Ensure cleanliness of equipment, storage areas, and sanitary handling of products, in accordance with health and safety and Ministry of Health regulations.
