About the job

Working as part of a small team at the Hamilton Wentworth Correctional Centre, you will enjoy a variety of tasks as well as a steady work schedule. In this role you can expect to:
buy, receive and check incoming goods and equipment
stock items, maintain storage control, and fill stock requisitions and orders
assemble and pack goods for distribution and use
reconcile purchasing card statements
update manual and computerized storekeeping databases
provide training, direction and supervision to staff and inmate helpers
What you bring to the team

Mandatory Requirements:
You have a valid Forklift Operator's Certificate or able to obtain one upon hire
#
Specialized Knowledge and Analytical Skills
You have knowledge and experience with:
coordinating the receipt, storage, recording and distribution of products and equipment
inventory control practices to ensure the accurate and up-to-date records
purchasing processes
relevant legislation and policies (i.e. Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS) to ensure proper handling, mixing, and storage of goods, and to maintain safety and security of stock areas

You are able to input data and produce reports

Communication and Supervisory Skills
You are able to:
assign and review the work of inmate helpers
discuss and resolve problems with suppliers and staff
prepare reports

Problem-Solving and Organizational Skills
You can:
coordinate schedules and assign work in the stock room to meet fluctuating priorities
identify and prevent safety risks
resolve billing issues and discrepancies
