Job Description

Temporary North Store Manager with the possibility of getting hired as a permanent employee.



1. Role



This is temporary position to cover for a maternity leave for the next 9-12 months with the possibility for a permanent position for a store expansion project.

The Store Manager is responsible for the overall leadership and daily operations of the North location at Paraiso Tropical - Latin Food Market. This Temporary Role ensures smooth execution of store functions, high customer satisfaction, and effective team management, while upholding our commitment to Latin American culture and food excellence.

The Store Manager drives performance, team engagement, and operational efficiency to meet business targets and support community impact.

Leadership & People Management



Supervise and lead all store staff, including supervisors and clerks. Plan schedules, manage shift coverage, and conduct regular team meetings. Support hiring, onboarding, and training in alignment with HR and company standards. Promote a respectful, inclusive, and productive work environment.

Customer Experience & Store Operations



Oversee all store operations including opening and closing duties. Resolve escalated customer concerns and ensure quality service delivery. Maintain store cleanliness, product placement, and adherence to health regulations. Guide staff on Latin food knowledge to enrich the customer experience.

Inventory, Cash, and System Oversight



Manage inventory control, product rotation, and loss prevention strategies. Oversee incoming shipments, product inspections, and invoice accuracy. Ensure accurate cash handling, register reconciliation, and daily financial reporting. Operate and monitor inventory and POS systems (LBOSS/EQWID).

Collaboration & Process Improvement



Coordinate with Marketing, Supply Chain, Kitchen, Admin, and other Store Managers. Implement SOPs and process improvements aligned with company strategy. Monitor performance indicators and drive continuous improvement. Support seasonal campaigns, cultural promotions, and community outreach.

3. Requirements



Minimum Qualifications



2-3 years of management or supervisory experience in retail (food industry preferred). Experience leading multicultural teams through change and expansion. Bilingual in Spanish and English (spoken and written). Portuguese will be an asset. Proficient in Google Suite or Microsoft Office, POS systems, and basic document creation. Knowledge of food safety protocols (HACCP), inventory systems, and customer service standards. High school diploma. Post-secondary in Business, Commerce, Retail, or Hospitality is an asset. Must be available for evening and weekend shifts, based on business needs. Must reliably commute to a different store location and events when necessary. Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Experience reporting to the leadership team. Experience implementing inventory management strategies to reduce loss and waste. Able to lead on sales strategies that will secure business growth.

4. Report



To ensure alignment on goals, consistency in operations, and delivery of high service standards across all locations, this position reports directly to the Operations Manager and collaborates closely with:

Other Store Managers Kitchen Coordinator, Supply Chain Coordinator, Admin/Payroll, Marketing and Sales team

5. Results (Expected Outcomes)



High levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty. Effective team performance and low staff turnover. Accurate inventory management and reduced losses. Clean, organized, and culturally vibrant store environment. Timely and accurate reporting of store performance and KPIs. Active promotion of Latin American culture and food awareness.
Eligible for benefits after probationary period (90 days).
Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 9-12 months

Pay: $22.00-$24.00 per hour
