Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Custodian/Maintenance person to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all St. FX Students' Union spaces. This position involves performing various cleaning and maintenance tasks in commercial settings, ensuring that facilities are well-kept and operational.

Responsibilities

Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming to maintain cleanliness throughout the facility. Clean and sanitize St. FX Students' Union spaces ( Golden X Inn, Kevin's Corner Student Food Resource Center) and other common areas to ensure hygiene standards are met. Maintain floors, surfaces, and equipment. Handle waste disposal and recycling processes efficiently while adhering to safety protocols. Assist with minor facilities maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs or reporting larger maintenance issues to management. Ensure that all cleaning supplies and equipment are used safely and stored properly after use. Follow established procedures for cleaning hazardous materials or spills as required.

Skills

Proven experience in commercial cleaning or custodial services is preferred. Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain high standards of cleanliness. Knowledge of facilities maintenance practices is a plus. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Strong communication skills to interact positively with staff and visitors.

Job Types: Part-time, Seasonal
Contract length: 9 months

Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 per week
