POSITION PURPOSE Reporting to the Program Manager, Green Infrastructure and under the guidance of the Regional Greening Coordinator, is responsible for the promotion and implementation of public education and private land stewardship programs which promote natural environment protection and awareness; to provide program support, research, technical and administrative support for the Greening and Securement Programs and strategies; for field delivery of education programs; and for promoting and providing technical support for Greening Initiatives.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepares, delivers, promotes and communicates education and awareness to the public, private landowners and school programs on environmental and greening programs.
  • Develops and delivers stewardship programs and projects and acts as contact for partnership members.
  • Implements and sustains Greening Strategy programs and assists Coordinator to ensure projects meet targets, timelines, budget etc.
  • Carries out scientific and technical research for the development of new programs and for preparation of Section reports to Committee and Council.
  • Coordinates meetings, participates and takes minutes for meetings.
  • Summarizes and tracks budget status for various projects and programs.
  • Coordinates activities, establishes priorities and organizes projects to meet deadlines.
  • Monitors and tracks partnership agreements and initiatives using Excel, Access and GIS system resources
  • Liaises with government agencies and other stakeholders to communicate and promote programs and partnerships.
  • Meets with the public and other private landowners to promote stewardship, provide education programs and to deliver environmental programs and projects.
  • Provides technical, research and administrative support for Section as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
  • Successful completion of a University Degree in resource management, environmental science or related discipline or equivalent approved combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum three (3) years experience working in a related, environmental field.
  • Knowledge of the Region\xe2\x80\x99s Greening Strategy, Securement Strategy and criteria.
  • Knowledge of private land stewardship, legislation and incentive programs for ecological land donations and environmental education programs.
  • Knowledge of environmental legislation, Planning Act, policy and planning, and programs and strategies related to environmental protection, habitat rehabilitation, land securement activities in a public sector environment.
  • Knowledge of natural resource management principles and concepts.
  • Valid Ontario Class \xe2\x80\x9cG\xe2\x80\x9d drivers licence.
