Your opportunity:
The Advancement team generates private-sector revenue to support the Faculty and its academic priorities. Through a range of programs and special initiatives, we raise awareness among current and prospective donors and volunteers regarding the importance of investing in the Faculty. Our office engages in cultivating and sustaining strong relationships with all stakeholders, including our accomplished alumni who are located in more than 190 countries.
The Stewardship Associate will play a key role in developing and implementing established stewardship program activities, with the goal of deepening relationships with donors to the Faculty of Arts & Science. They will work closely with the Stewardship team to execute strategies related to the Stewardship program. They will be responsible for timely recognition of gifts, assisting with holiday cards and other engagement methods, tracking stewardship activity and maintaining accurate records, preparation and follow up for donor events, setup and amendment of award records, drafting various stewardship communications, and annual donor reporting. They will be exposed to and support an integrated and expanding suite of fundraising and stewardship strategies in all Development areas including major gifts, annual giving, alumni relations, communications, and special events.
The successful candidate will report to the Associate Director of Stewardship, and will work closely with all members of the Arts & Science Advancement team, and further collaborate with colleagues in the Division of University Advancement, and across the University.
Your responsibilities will include:

  • Fostering positive relationships with prospective and existing donors (primarily Annual Fund-level giving)
  • Responding to and resolving service complaints
  • Assessing needs and contributing to the development and implementation of plans for donor recognition
  • Handling sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Drafting and coordinating regular donor acknowledgment and recognition communications
  • Editing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks
  • Determining logistical details required for donor communications
  • Generating reports (e.g. donor lists); supporting advancement colleagues in utilizing standard stewardship tools (e.g. ThankView)
Essential Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years of experience in philanthropy and in other fundraising environments.
  • Experience with fundraising database ARBOR or related database required
  • Experience writing fundraising reports for donors and internal audiences
  • Experience fulfilling donor stewardship requirements
  • Experience creating donor correspondence from non-template documents
  • Demonstrated advanced computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint), database and fundraising software, and email.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced problem solving, organizational and time management skills.
