Job Summary

:


The

Steward

plays a vital role in providing exceptional guest service while maintaining a clean and organized dining environment during cruises and/or meals. You will assist guests navigating the buffet, help replenish food as needed, and ensure that all dining areas and the entire boat remain clean and well-stocked. Clearing dishes and glassware. The Steward works closely with the Supervisor, bar staff, and other team members to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all guests aboard the boat.

Key Responsibilities

:

Guest Service & Hospitality

: Greet and welcome guests with a friendly and enthusiastic attitude as they board the boat and guide them to various areas on the vessel. Assist guests in navigating the buffet, providing helpful information on available options and any dietary considerations. Provide detailed knowledge about the buffet offerings, including ingredients, allergens, and preparation methods, offering recommendations when needed. Periodically check in with guests to ensure they are satisfied with their meals and dining experience. Address special dietary requests or concerns with a positive and accommodating attitude, involving the Supervisor if needed. Ensure guests have everything they need for an enjoyable experience, and resolve any issues promptly and professionally. Address guest concerns or complaints quickly and professionally, and escalate any issues to a supervisor if necessary. At the conclusion of the meal or cruise, assist guests as they prepare to leave, thank them for their visit, and wish them well.

Buffet Management & Food Service

: Assist in the setup and breakdown of buffet stations, ensuring that food is properly arranged, presented, and replenished throughout service. Monitor the buffet area to ensure that food remains fresh, appealing, and fully stocked, communicating with kitchen staff when replenishment is needed. Clear empty plates, glasses, and utensils quickly and efficiently, keeping the dining area clean and organized at all times. Replenish clean dishes, glassware, and utensils to designated areas to maintain service flow.

Drink Service & Beverage Station Maintenance

: Ensure that beverage stations (water, coffee, etc.) are always stocked, clean, and accessible for guests. Assist guests in accessing and using the drink stations as needed.

Cleaning and Organization

: Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area by wiping down tables, chairs, and other surfaces regularly. Ensure that the buffet stations and surrounding areas remain tidy and well-presented during service. Sanitize high-touch areas, including condiment trays, beverage stations, and buffet surfaces, to maintain health and safety standards. Assist with restocking supplies like condiments, napkins, and silverware during the meal as needed.

Qualifications

:

You have to like and enjoy people. Previous experience in a customer service or food service role is preferred but not required. Friendly, positive attitude with a focus on guest satisfaction. Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and guests. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Ability to remain professional, polite, and calm when handling guest concerns or complaints. Ability to stand for long periods and move quickly between areas of the boat. Ability to lift up to 50lbs. Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays, to accommodate varying cruise schedules. Have or are willing to obtain ProServe certification.
