Working under the Supervision of the Medical Device Reprocessing Supervisor (MDRS), the SA is responsible for the duties related to the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, wrapping, and sterilization of the Oral Health Clinic's dental instruments.PositionThe Central Sterilization Assistant (SA), working under the Supervision of the Medical Device Reprocessing Supervisor (MDRS) is responsible for the accurate sterilization of all clinics instrumentation (upwards towards 10,000's daily) while adhering to and applying established School of Dentistry policies, Infection Prevention and Control protocols (IPC), inventory management and the responsibilities of each workstation, as well as the adoption of current Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention (OSAP) and Alberta Health Services (AHS), Alberta Dental Association and College (ADA+C), and The College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta (CRDHA) guidelines for infection prevention and control.The SA is a shift work position with various shifts between the hours of 7:00 am to midnight, Monday to Sunday, shifts are dependent on staffing and current workload and clinical operations, and 24 hour turnaround of all instrumentation. There are opportunities for some weekend shifts when the School of Dentistry Continuing Education has scheduled training clinics.This is a recurring position and there are inactive periods that will be based in accordance with the School's operational requirements for the Fall, Winter and Spring terms start and end periods. The approximate inactive time periods may be between 5-6 weeks and can include: late April - late August, a week in November, mid December - early January and a week in February. Please note the hours worked per week and annual salary will be prorated to reflect this.Duties
