Sterile Supply Processing Technician, Animal Resource Centre

The Sterile Supply Processing Technician at the BC Cancer Research Centre\xe2\x80\x99s Animal Resource Centre performs specific duties related to the decontaminating, checking, testing, assembling, packaging, wrapping and sterilizing of re-processable and reusable barrier facility products for immunocompromised mice including packs of surgical instruments prepared by technical personnel, in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.

What you\xe2\x80\x99ll do

  • Check, clean and decontaminate re-processable and reusable supplies and equipment in the barrier rodent facility, such as cages, cage racks, water bottles, water valves, cage enrichment, and carts. Sterilize packs of surgical instruments prepared by technical personnel
  • Operate ultra-sonic washer, mechanical washers and sterilizers, and participate in routine maintenance of the department\xe2\x80\x99s equipment by cleaning, checking and testing equipment for functionality. Reports maintenance needs to Manager or designate.
  • Sort, inspect, and reassemble equipment and supplies according to written procedures.
  • Wrap and label equipment and supplies for sterilization according to written procedures.
  • Fill orders for sterile supply processing, according to weekly task list and email requests.
  • Maintain inventory levels of sterile and non-sterile supplies by restocking depleted supplies, and reprocessing outdated sterile items in the barrier rodent facility.
  • Monitor supplies for wear, and maintains attrition logs to support when equipment requires replacement.
What you bring
  • Grade 12
  • Successful completion of a sterile supply processing course
  • One year\xe2\x80\x99s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
