With the support of our leadership team and peers, our people are encouraged to share their perspectives.Job PurposeThe Steamfitter/ Pipefitter may lay out, assemble, fabricate, maintain and repair piping systems which carry water, steam, chemicals or fuel used in heating, cooling, lubricating and other processes. Steamfitter/ Pipefitter's also remove and replace worn components, do general maintenance work and may work on plant shutdowns.

  • Display a commitment to Waiward's incident-free vision, values, and culture.
  • Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine the type of pipe and tools to use, and lay out the sequence of tasks.
  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, bend, assemble and install metal, plastic and fiberglass pipes, valves and fittings.
  • Join pipe sections, related equipment and secure in position.
  • Use testing equipment effectively to check for system leaks and troubleshoot fitting errors.
  • Read and understand complex instructions and drawings.
Qualifications
  • Must be a registered apprentice or an Alberta-certified journeyperson, hold a valid recognized credential, or possess the skills and knowledge expected of a Journeyperson.
  • Basic Rigging Course an asset
  • Experience working with alloys an asset
  • Certified Overhead Crane Operator an asset
  • WHMIS.
  • CSTS-2020 required
  • CSO/BSO/OSSA REGIONAL required
  • ESC/BTA/OSSA FALL PROTECTION required
  • ESC/BTA/OSSA EWP TRAINING required
  • ESC/BTA/OSSA CONFINED SPACE AND ENTRY required
  • Experience working in a live and operating facility
  • Possess a valid class 5 - Optional
Work ConditionsThe incumbent is required to work outdoors live plant/shutdown plant environment with moderate to severe noise, working at heights, extreme temperatures, and numerous equipment hazards.Physical RequirementsThe incumbent is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: viewing assembly specifications for extended periods of time; and extensive reading. The incumbent is also required to stand and sit for extended periods of time and will require good physical attributes for walking on uneven ground, climbing, confined space entry, limited lifting, and sitting.*Please note that only qualified candidates will be contacted.
