THE ROLE

At Fora we\'re building a culture around flexibility, continuous improvement, and the desire to have a positive impact on our users; and we\'re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team. As Staff Software Engineer, you will collaborate with our engineers, product managers, and designers to help users share and discover valuable knowledge about their hobbies, interests, and pastimes. Our team operates with a healthy balance between rapid experimentation to test new user experiences and well-architected, robust, scalable software. WHAT YOU\'LL DO

• Build, deploy, and maintain services, pipelines, and applications to support new user experiences on our existing forums, and on a new surface we are developing from the ground up on a fresh tech stack
• Help set the engineering culture and technical foundation for the future of Fora in collaboration with our engineering team
• Collaborate frequently with product managers and designers

ABOUT YOU

• 7+ years of experience in full-stack software engineering
• Have launched full-stack consumer-facing products at scale
• Extensive background in building and optimizing scalable backends, pipelines, data warehouses, web services, server performance, clients, and/or APIs
• Fluent in multiple backend and frontend languages, e.g. Python, Go, Java, Scala, PHP, and Javascript frameworks
• Experience deploying and managing production cloud services, and unit and integration testing
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, and comfort collaborating cross-functionally among engineering, product, and design teams
• Ability to guide the technical roadmap while navigating through ambiguity and change
• Desire to mentor others on engineering best practices and set engineering culture
