Staff Pharmacist

Job Description

Our community pharmacy is looking for a Staff Pharmacist to assist in dispensing medication and advising patients, and to ensure that sales goals are met both at the pharmacy and through strategic business partnerships. The position requires maintaining a thorough understanding of all medications and their interactions, ensuring all staff members are keeping up-to-date with changes in drug regulations and advances in practice, as well as performing a number of administrative duties.Responsibilities:

  • Work in partnership with allied health personnel and other members of the health care team to provide pharmaceutical care, patient counseling, education, and other related services.
  • Implement clinical decisions by determining drug therapy options based on current standards of practice, drug information sources, and professional guidelines.
  • Provide patient focused services such as injections, medication reviews, and minor ailment prescribing to maximize patient care and provide professional advice and counselling. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with health care professionals in the community to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures that comply with federal and provincial legislation, regulations, bylaws and accrediting body standards. Establish and maintain quality management policies and procedures that include a process for reporting, documenting and following up on known, alleged, and suspected errors, incidents, and discrepancies
Candidates must possess:
  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (B.Sc.Phm.) or a Doctorate in Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) from a recognized institution.
  • Injection certification and current licensure in good standing with relevant provincial College of Pharmacists is required
Related Experience:
  • Experience in community pharmacy is required.
  • Exposure to Kroll would be considered an asset.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are required.
