Job Summary: Full time Position: hours will be split between 2 of our stores, in Langley and Surrey The Pharmacist satisfies the needs of patients by providing optimal pharmaceutical care and services. He or she ensures the proper functioning of services and activities in his or her field. He or she must comply with the professional Code of Conduct, the Pharmacy Act and other regulations respecting pharmaceutical practices, as well as all provincial and federal laws. Responsibilities:
Taking charge of patients

  • Welcome patients in a professional and considerate manner while setting an example for patient service quality.
  • Ask relevant questions during consultations and advise patients on non-pharmaceutical measures and over-the-counter medication use.
  • Collect essential information from patient records to evaluate their needs while keeping those records up-to-date.
  • Implement a medication reconciliation plan by identifying the discrepancies between pharmacological profiles, data collection and prescriptions.
  • Conduct pharmacological evaluations for prescriptions.
  • Obtain results from the patient\xe2\x80\x99s laboratory testing and relevant clinical measures.
  • Record all the essential information in the patient\xe2\x80\x99s record, along with all interventions and follow-up notes.
  • Identify therapy-related problems (e.g., inadequate dosage, non-prescription medication, adverse interactions and effects) and provide the appropriate intervention.
  • Initiate or adjust prescription-based drug therapy and monitor its impact on the patient\xe2\x80\x99s health.
  • Provide the patient with the necessary information regarding his or her therapy and provide advice on the proper use of medication.
  • Inform patients on appropriate control measures and non-pharmacological measures regarding their treatment.
  • Interact with other health professionals on a daily basis to ensure the proper handling of the patient\xe2\x80\x99s various health problems and ensure continuity in his or her pharmacological treatment. Respond to professional information or consultation requests.
  • Comply with the terms and conditions surrounding the sale of medication.
  • Make sure the distribution of medication and sharp instruments remains secure and compliant with environmental standards.
  • Provide for effective prevention and management measures regarding any event (incident/accident) that involves medication.
  • Promote health with information on prevention.
  • Keep up with changes in legislation, scientific data and recognized professional standards.
  • Manage all exceptional and unpredictable patient situations that arise and propose solutions adapted to circumstances.
Merchandise Control
  • Supervise the rotation of merchandise by ensuring adequate volumes and removing outdated medication.
  • Enforce legal and professional obligations regarding packaging and labelling along with the identification of expiry dates for medication use.
  • Manage medication storage and transportation procedures with respect to the cold chain to maintain its integrity.
  • Securely manage dangerous medication and hazardous materials.
  • Manage control mechanisms to safeguard against the theft of narcotics, controlled drugs, targeted substances and alcohol.
  • Update registries regarding the purchase, sale and distribution of narcotics.
Employee Management (where applicable)
  • Enforce and comply with various labour laws (e.g., health and safety, labour standards, etc.
  • Hire, integrate and train employees according to staff needs.
  • Prepare work schedules according to operational needs.
  • Establish priority lists and distribute the work to each employee while monitoring its progress.
  • Periodically assess the performance of employees and follow up on their developmental needs.
  • Implement disciplinary measures, where needed.
  • Communicate all relevant work-related information to employees.
  • Mobilize employees by directing their efforts end energy toward common objectives to create a harmonious work environment.
  • Act as trainee supervisor for pharmacy students.
Qualification:
  • Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D.);
  • Valid practice license;
  • Knowledge of prescription management software, an asset.
  • Injection Certified
  • Compounding experience, an asset

  • Bachelor\'s Degree (required)

  • pharmacist: 1 year (preferred)
