Job Summary

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the pharmacy department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality pharmaceutical care to patients. This role involves managing pharmacy staff, maintaining compliance with regulations, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patient care, particularly in minor ailments, vaccination, prescription compounding, and acute care settings, along with expertise in medication administration and medical terminology.

Responsibilities

- Lead and manage pharmacy staff, providing training and support to ensure optimal performance.
- Oversee the dispensing of medications and ensure accuracy in medication administration.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations governing pharmacy operations.
- Maintain accurate records of prescriptions, inventory, and controlled substances.
- Conduct medication therapy management and provide patient counseling as needed.
- Monitor drug utilization patterns and address any issues related to medication safety.
- Stay current with advancements in pharmaceutical practices and integrate new knowledge into pharmacy operations.

Requirements

- Licencing from an accredited institution.
- Valid pharmacist license in the province of Ontario
- Previous experience in a clinical pharmacy setting preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and medication administration protocols.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience or interest in minor ailments, vaccination, prescription compounding, and acute care is highly desirable.
