Southbridge, the owner and operator of several long-term care homes and retirement communities, is currently seeking an Educator & Restorative Care Coordinator to join their long-term care home in Cornwall, ON. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Educator & Restorative Care Coordinator will be responsible for taking the lead of the education for the home and the nursing restorative program in the home overseeing and driving quality improvement initiatives within the home.
Daily Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
Takes the lead of the Nursing Restorative program in the home
Mentors and coaches, the Nursing Restorative staff
Enrolls staff and manages the Surge/Safety 24/7 platforms for the home
Excellence Program Lead
Coordinates ongoing and annual training sessions for all staff
Collaborates with the Corporate Education Consultant for required education for all staff.
Coordinates and facilitates general orientation.
Safe lift and transfer lead.
Mobility equipment lead
Homes liaison with multidisciplinary team, Ontario Health at Home, and mobility equipment providers to ensure equipment is readily available
Collaborates with the Environmental Services Manager for emergency codes and fire drills training.
Supports the RNAO Best Practice Guidelines program in the home.
Lead for staff requiring training and retraining on tasks as it relates to responsibilities of their roles.
Participate in nursing meetings on a regular basis to introduce new programs, policies, quality improvements, new initiatives, and changes in practices and policies.
A member of the Leadership team, Quality Team meetings and other meetings /committees as assigned.
Attends other committees/teams' meetings as requested or required.
Ensure that policies and procedures are aligned with the homes' culture, vision, mission and values.
Provide the Senior Management with monthly key performance indicators updates, including plans to address areas where targets are not met.
Partner with educational stakeholders, colleges, universities, agencies, and professional associations.
Qualifications
A minimum of 3+ years of Nursing supervisory experience, including a minimum of 3 years of experience in long-term care
Current certification with the CNO as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) is required.
Current license with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
Working knowledge and compliance with the accreditation Process and applicable Contractual & Legislative Requirements. CNO standards, FLTCA 2021, Act & regulations.
Strong knowledge and use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, Facilitation Skills, Recording and Reporting Skills.
A positive outlook with a strong work ethic is required.
Well-developed written and oral communication skills
Knowledge and experience with adult education strategies/facilitation
Proficient computer skills and strong problem-solving abilities
Ability to work with and relate to interdisciplinary team members and other internal stakeholders
Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results less than 6 months old, must be able to provide three supervisory references.
