Job Description

Robert Half is looking to bring a long-term contract / temporary Staff Accountant with exceptional organization skills and know-how into a growing organization. As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation of journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance and general ledger reconciliation. During the monthly close, many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility. You will provide support in developing and implementing accounting policies. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes. This very involved position works to produce Cash Flow projections, Financial Statements, and Budgets. Based in the Woodstock, Ontario region, this company offers an engaging and mulit-faceted opportunity where effort is rewarded.

Key responsibilities

- Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

- Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

- Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll

- Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings

- Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision

- Participate in various department-wide initiatives

- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed

- Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

- Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner

- Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

- Distinguished analytical, quantitative and social skills

- Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment

- Self-starter and strong ethical standards

- Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines

- Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

- Good understanding of Bank Account Reconciliation

- Previous experience working with financial reconciliation

- Practical knowledge of Public Accounting

- Proven knowledge of Year-end Financial Statements

- Quality experience with month end closings

- Earlier work involving Balance Sheet Reconciliation

- MUST HAVE CaseWare Experience

- Experience with Prepare Financial Statements

- Well-founded grasp of Balance Sheets

- Financial statement preparation experience

- Strong familiarity with Analyze Financial Statements

- General familiarity with capital assets

- Year end closings experience required

- Wide ranging experience with account reconciliation

- Recent and relevant accounting experience

- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

- Excellent attention to detail

- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
