Staff Accountant
Job Description
Robert Half currently has a permanent opportunity for an experienced Staff Accountant to join our client\'s growing team. As Staff Accountant in a public practice accounting firm, you will put your skills towards the development and implementation of accounting policies, preparing corporate and personal tax returns, reviewing general ledger accounts, proposing, and adjusting journal entries, performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts
Provide assistance and support to clients on accounting and bookkeeping issues. Located in the Winnipeg, Manitoba area, this position is a challenging, multi-faceted opportunity to work for a national company that recognizes and rewards hard work.
Responsibilities
- Preparing corporate and personal tax returns
- Reviewing general ledger accounts, proposing, and adjusting journal entries
- Performing account analysis and reconciliation, including bank statements and intercompany general ledger accounts
- Provide assistance and support to clients on accounting and bookkeeping issues
- Proactively follow up with clients and build positive working relationships
- Effectively respond to requests or queries, and keep the team apprised of any potential issues
- Working on special projects as required
- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
- Ability to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent, and to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Fully formed organizational, written and verbal communication skills
- Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- 2+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
- Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
- Extraordinary analytical, quantitative and social skills
- Annual Income Tax Provision experience preferred
- Well-founded grasp of bookkeeping
- Practical knowledge of Client engagement
- General familiarity with Public Accounting Tax
- Account reconciliation experience preferred
- Corporate Tax Return experience
- Account reconciliation experience
