Medical Laboratories of Windsor is a family-owned and community-focused medical testing facility serving Windsor-Essex. With a team of over 130 employees across multiple locations, we are dedicated to providing accurate, timely, and compassionate diagnostic services to our patients and healthcare partners. We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role plays a key part in managing purchasing and inventory processes while also supporting mid-level accounting activities that ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Purchasing & Inventory Management
Act as a purchasing agent, maintaining relationships with suppliers and coordinating orders.
Track and monitor inventory movements across multiple locations.
Ensure purchase approvals and internal controls are in place for inventory management.
Collaborate with the receiving agent to verify that goods received match purchase orders in both quantity and quality.
Maintain accurate accounting records related to inventory transactions.
Accounting & Financial Reporting
Assist the Controller with reconciliations, general ledger entries, and accruals.
Support month-end and year-end close processes.
Contribute to the preparation of financial statements and management reporting packages.
Prepare working papers and schedules for audits. o Assist in improving accounting policies, procedures, and controls.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field. International education will be considered if supported by relevant experience that demonstrates the required skills.
Working towards CPA designation is an asset; non-Canadian accounting designations will also be considered with sufficient proven experience.
2-4 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, preferably with exposure to purchasing and inventory processes.
Strong knowledge of ASPE and GAAP (or equivalent international accounting standards).
Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas); experience with Sage 50 or QuickBooks Online is an asset.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
Excellent attention to detail, communication, and collaboration skills
Compensation
Annual salary: $45,000 - $53,000, commensurate with experience.
