Job Description


Corrpro Canada is seeking a Staff Accountant to join the Edmonton finance team to cover a maternity leave. The position will start in November 2023 and lasts until January 2025.

Corrpro, an Aegion company, is Canada\'s largest corrosion engineering, cathodic protection, and corrosion monitoring business for the protection and preservation of infrastructure. Corrpro provides professional corrosion consulting and cathodic protection engineering services to major oil companies, government agencies, municipal water, sewer and gas utilities, universities, and public transportation agencies. Corrpro has complete construction installation services, including crews and equipment to install any type of cathodic protection system for any type of structure.

  • Provide accounting, reporting and financial analysis support to the Controller and other accounting staff of Corrpro Canada
  • Analyze, reconcile, balance and maintain accounting records
  • Create and enter journal entries including expense accruals
  • Maintain construction in progress project accounting
  • Assist with monthly close, and with the preparation of monthly financial reports
  • Analyze intercompany transactions
  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly reports
  • Prepare audit work papers and assist in audits
  • Monitor expenses for departments to ensure compliance with standard accounting procedures
  • Assist in preparation of regularly schedule tax reporting requirements
  • Assist with ad hoc analyzes and other accounting requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 2 to 5 years of related accounting experience
  • Experience working in manufacturing or construction-based accounting is preferred
  • Must be ambitious and eager to learn
  • Must be a strong communicator with experience taking initiative and functioning independently
  • Possess a track record of providing superior financial leadership and analytical business decision support through planning, focusing, and insightful reporting, and a proven ability to work proactively, negotiate, influence, think out-of-the-box and drive process improvement
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience with JD Edwards and Hyperion software are strongly preferred
