Invinity is seeking an experienced R&D Stack Test Engineer to join its technology development team. In this role you work with an international, collaborative team to research, develop and verify new cell stack technologies. You are familiar with testing requirements from flow batteries or other relevant electrochemical devices such as PEM fuel cells and electrolysers. You have a solid understanding of engineering and DOE principles, data analysis, and accelerated lifetime test methodologies and can effectively present your work with strong communication and interpersonal skills. You enjoy hands-on work and apply strong structured problems solving and troubleshooting skills. Responsibilities:

  • Develop test plans and track design verification based on R&D requirements documents, including DFMEA
  • Develop and maintain Stack R&D testing infrastructure including test stands, test equipment, data collection systems, etc.
  • Collaborate with component owners to research, develop and refine performance and lifetime test methods
  • Create databases for test data and key results
  • Establish and execute internal test programs for Invinity’s current and future technologies
  • Post-process and analyze VFB technology / product performance data via analysis tools (Matlab, Labview, Excel or other)
  • Validate theoretical models to analyze and optimize products’ performance (electrochemical, thermal, etc.) and reliability
  • Report out to product development team on results, recommendations, and conformity assessments
  • Producing and managing R&D documentation, including test protocols and verification reports
  • Develop, support, and maintain test station, hardware, tools and infrastructure
  • Contribute to the design, procurement, and build of test equipment

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemical, Systems, Engineering Physics, or similar science / engineering degree will also be considered
  • > 5 years relevant industry experience (flow battery or fuel cell test experience a plus)
  • > 3 years experience in product / R&D testing
  • Some programming experience, and use of automated performance analysis tools
  • Demonstrated practical experience in appropriate test environment with mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience with tool use and safety in a lab / production environment
  • Ability to interpret test data and compare against design objectives
  • Strong technical writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated, driven problem solver and self-starter
  • Willingness to comply with all regional and company Covid-19 safety protocols as they change from time to time
  • Highly motivated with interest and ability to thrive in a technology start-up environment
Assets
  • Knowledge of a broad range of test techniques for fuel cell and/or flow battery bipolar cell stacks
  • Experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB, Excel VBA, Power Queries, Python or other programming
